The Folkestone Flashers return to the streets in April 2010!

FADARS Flashers

Hi all, the Flashers evening was a success, but was cut short due to a very cold wind! And we just about avoided getting arrested after attracting the attention of the Military security. (Nice to see they were on the ball though).

Thanks to Denis G0SLJ for organising this event which was enjoyed by Paul, 2E0AYY, Roy, G4TGP, John, G3GIE, Tim, G4IVL, and of course, myself.

The sending and receiving went very well and all was copied correctly. However, the biting cold wind eventually got the better of us and we called
it a day around 20:30. Perhaps next time we could do it in the summer Denis?

The next meeting is Monday 10th May at Earlsgate. I am awaiting news from Keith about the trip to Dungeness Lifeboat Station. The aim is to go on an evening when they do a training launch, usually on a Wednesday. I am informed that it is now no longer possible for non Lifeboat members to go on the boat as it used to be, but never the less, I am sure we will enjoy the event anyway. As soon as I know the date I will let you know.

In the meantime, don't forget the Monday evening net on GB3FK at 19:30 local time. 73, de Stan, G6ZNW, General dogsbody and incidentally, Chairman.

A introduction from the Chairman Stan G6ZNW

If you live in or around Folkestone, you are very welcome to come and join us. You dont have to be a Radio Amateur to join, but it helps if you have an interest in electronics or computers, otherwise you might not know what we are talking about.

We meet every first Monday of the month at 11, Earls Ave Folkestone, at the Side entrance, in the basement. We meet from 19:30 until approx 22:00, depending on what we are doing that week. Refreshments are available during the meeting.
On the Mondays when we dont meet, we have a radio net on 145.750 (GB3FK) at 19:30 local time.

We are a very informal club, we dont stand on ceremony, we dont have subs, we keep formalities to a minimum.

When we meet, we either have talks or lectures on various subjects, some of which might not even be radio related. If no talk is scheduled, then we have a natter night, where we just talk about anything that comes to mind. These discussions can be very interesting indeed.

At times we either visit with other local radio clubs or host them at our meetings. We have had occasional shared events with some as well and we plan to expand such shared events in the future as and when the opportunity arises.

Elsewhere on this website, you will find a brief history of the club, plus information on how to contact the chairman and other club officers.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our meetings or hearing you on the Monday net.

73 Stan Cascino (G6ZNW) Chairman.
